Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a precise, thorough examination and treatment of the body’s soft tissues using regionally oriented protocols that are taught in a step-by-step process. NMT is highly effective for clients who present with chronic pain and is often successful in reducing or even eliminating longstanding painful conditions. Some of the techniques can also be applied to acute injuries and for post-surgical care; many help to improve performance in sport or dance and to prevent injuries due to these activities.

In his book Return to Life through Contrology, Joseph Pilates presents his method as the art of controlled movements, which should look and feel like a workout when properly manifested.

If practiced with consistency, Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body. Emphasis is on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' system can be modified in range of difficulty from beginner to advanced or to any other level.

Yoga Asana

Yoga is a multifaceted philosophy that includes postures, meditation, breathing, service, good deeds, and self-actualization.  At Balanced Movement, we focus on the posture aspect of yoga, known as asana. We also offer meditation and breathing work and are happy to point the way to other resources for any other aspects of the yoga philosophy you wish to study.

We aim to demystify this practice and offer a contemporary approach to the practice while honoring the history of this great philosophy.

Thai Yoga

Thai Yoga is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. The founding father of Thai massage was an Ayurvedic doctor named Jivaka Kumar Bhacca, who is revered still in Thailand as the "father of medicine".
